Using the Internet to Market your Business

Just as gadget-crazed as consumers, advertisers are expected to accelerate their nontraditional media spends through 2012. MagnaGlobal now expects spending on Internet media (including national and local) to grow by 12.2%, this year. That’s up from the Interpublic unit’s previous forecasts of 10.9%, and, if correct, will represent $35.6 billion and a 20.2% market share.

With this kind of growth how can you not be using the Internet to Market your business. There are more and more opportunities out there for business owners to boost clients to their websites yet business owners lack the knowledge of online marketing, creating more opportunity for their competitors than themselves.

One of the biggest mistakes business owners make as self-marketers is to rationalize their bad decisions.  It is important to accept and face the facts that they didn’t make the best choice.  Once they have overcome the hurdle of admitting fault it’s time to take action and do something about correcting the issues.

  • Figure out why a their marketing tactics didn’t work
  • Determine how your employees can help you improve going forward
  • Educate other employees so they can avoid making the same mistakes

When you have made decisions that have returned zero results your first excuse is to blame the media you used to market your business. Let’s face the facts folks, the media only does what you tell them… they can recommend a plan of action, however if you don’t listen to the recommendations and use them in your plan of action, it does you absolutely no good.

So before you go spending money do the research and make sure that what you are proposing is the best action for your business. And don’t spend your whole year’s budget with one form of media. Spread your marketing out. Print Media, Magazines, Newspapers etc.. is one direction, Video Marketing, online marketing etc… there are multiple options and each one has a place in your marketing strategy. Be wise and make the most out of all that is offered.

If you are not sure of what to do….OMG just ask.  It’s that simple.

Using the Internet to market your business is a great path to choose, it will keep you in line with your competition and keep you in front of potential new clients.
