Ways to Market your Business

Are there ways to market your business that will not cost you a fortune? How can you get the word out without driving your company into a financial black hole?

Truth is most marketing does take money, but there are some low-cost and no-cost options that you can put into action that will help you to get the word out about your products and service. While these ideas will not cost you a lot of money they will cost you time, so prepare for that.

These are great ideas for the company that is just starting out or looking to grow to the next level. They also work! Once you begin to see that in fact these  ideas can bring you business, your momentum will build and drive you to expand what your doing to other levels.

Network at events. Go to Chamber of Commerce meetings, BNI Group meetings, and other organizational meetings that will be attracting your “ideal” customer. Trade business cards. Get as many as you can and then begin to phone and email to follow up. However, remember that not everyone will be receptive, so don’t be upset if someone blows you off. But you will need to do this immediately while you are still fresh in their mind. After 48 hours people forget. If they cannot use your services, be sure to ask them if they know of someone who can and get their contact information. This is a referral.

  1. Speak boldly and with confidence at Networking Groups. At every networking meeting, make a commitment to say something that could be useful to those that are attending. This is a great way to not only share you knowledge and help others, but it also puts you in the eye of those who could use your services. Tips are great!
  2. Create a “useful” handout. A handout that when given to a recipient they keep because it has value. Content that will help the recipient with something in the community, a recipe, helpful tips about your business, coupons…Make sure that you include your name, phone number, email address, website information and your 30 second commercial that tells the recipient about your business.
  3. Find an affordable Marketing person or company. If you can find someone willing to help you with your Marketing, Branding & Advertising that does not charge high prices, let them. There are people who will help you, just don’t expect everything for free. Their time is valuable, let them know what you can afford, and find a happy medium.
  4. Use the Internet & Social Media to help you brand yourself. Internet Radio – There are a few of us out there that have pricing that is affordable for small businesses. Find a way to make it work for you. Whether it is thru commercials, tips, a Talk Show or thru website advertising. Generating Traffic Flow to your site is extremely important! Also use Social Media. Facebook, Linked In, these are two very powerful ways to get your business noticed. You will need to put some time into it but the pay off is worth it.
