Advertising – What’s in it for you? Who do you choose?

An important lesson in success is that you are going to move in the direction of your focus. If you are focused on  only using high dollar, high visibility newspapers, magazines or Radio stations,  you will acquire those things – often at the expense of financial stability. I have worked with many clients who have high dollar budgets but are flat broke because they invested in advertising and marketing that cost them a fortune.  Advertising that had they shopped around could have be less expensive and possibly more effective.

For Example… 

Do you advertise in the yellow pages?  Are you getting enough new customers to pay for the ad?  Are you asking your new customers how they found you?  Are you getting your money’s worth or is the ad your running costing you a fortune?  If you are getting a good return on your ad, great!  Or would you be better served by advertising online where 99% of the people go and search for what they need?  Food for thought!

Are you advertising in the newspaper because it’s what everyone does to get attention?  Do you get the customers you need to pay for the ad?  Or are you having to throw out coupons to get someone to pay attention?

Are you buying commercial blocks with major radio stations and wondering how your going to pay for it?  Or how you were talked into it?  Radio Stations charge major dollars to cover the expenses of the building, the staff and the bills.  The overhead is unbelieveable for Radio Stations.  Have you looked into Online Radio? Shop around. There are stations that operate just like the stations you listen to, music, commercials, interviews etc… but they are online and are a third of the price to advertise on.  Shop Around!

Facts are facts… people only use your services or buy your products when they need them.  They don’t buy when they don’t need it!!!!  How many times have you driven down the road and heard a commercial for something you needed?  Did you swerve off the road so that you could write the number down?  Did you jump off at the next exit ramp?  NO you didn’t!  And by the time you had gotten to where you were headed, you had already forgotten the commercial.  This is typical.

People don’t buy insurance just because your advertising it, they don’t buy furniture when they have a house full, and they don’t go to a restaurant just because they saw an advertisement. 

People spend money when it is something they need, and they shop it out to find the best price.   However, they also buy from people who have been in their constant line of vision for a long period of time, through advertising or commercials. Or from someone they have grown to trust.   

Consistancy is a very important detail in our economy these days.  The more people see you, the higher response retailers are seeing.  I tell everyone who advertises with us that they need to understand that it is consistancy not quick fixes that bring new customers through the doors.  

Those who understand flourish, those who don’t ……..

So, what’s in it for you…  advertising knowledge to help you build your business and increase traffic flow to your website.

Who do you choose…  someone who believe’s that the customer is important, that looks at whether or not advertising with them is beneficial to you and is not after how much money they can squeeze from you by selling you ungodly amounts of advertising for astranomical prices that are not even putting you in front of the target group you are needing.
